Water treatment for district heating

Optimum make-up water and circulating water is demineralized and deoxidized, free of mechanical impurities, and suitably alkalized with few chemicals. If these facts are disregarded, you run the risk of corrosions and precipitations in installations - perhaps resulting in pipe fracture and shortened plant life.

Make-up water and partial stream demineralization
Our standard product range covers both make-up water and partial stream demineralization. Softening, demineralization, deoxidation, and alkalization are all elements in our solutions.

A paying investment
Investment in a water treatment plant from EUROWATER pays. The list of direct and measurable advantages is long. Among the advantages are: Less corrosion - including reduced risk of biocorrosion, reduced consumption of chemicals, and prolonged plant life.

Recommendations on water treatment

Denmark has for many years been known as a leading country within district heating – this as the scale of district heating is huge (65% of the country’s total heat demand).

We would like to share with you a new recommendation on correct water treatment from Danish District Heating Association – the association which counts 350 district heating and energy companies as its members.

The report is based on collective experiences from the Danish district heating sector. Hopefully it can inspire district heating companies and consultants in other countries to consider implementing water treatment specifications, using the Danish experiences.

In short, the water treatment quality is highly influencing the lifecycle of pipes, fittings, valves, heat exchangers etc. – so has a deep economic influence on the DH system. The recommendation i.e. focuses on reduced use of chemicals – in line with the image of district heating as a sustainable energy - and also due to H&S issues as well as operational costs (OPEX).
